St. Patrick’s Day Drink Ideas

Green beer may be ubiquitous on St. Patrick’s Day, but maybe you want to get a little creative this year. If you’re hosting a St. Patrick’s Day event or just celebrating yourself, here are a few St. Patrick’s Day Drink ideas that will get you into the spirit with style while letting you broaden your horizons:

1) Green Mary

Make your favorite Bloody Mary drink by swapping out green tomatoes, cilantro and tomatillos for the tomato juice.

2) Green hornet

Shake equal parts green crème de menthe with brandy and strain into a glass over ice. Feel free to serve with green napkins or small novelty St. Patrick’s Day trinkets.

3) Grasshopper

Mix equal parts green crème de menthe, white crème de cacao and cream. Shake with ice and strain into an iced glass. The result is a creamy emerald drink.

4) Green apple martini

Combine green apple mix and vodka, shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. This drink will add a classy touch to any St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Decorate with a shamrock for an added festive detail.

5) Green matcha tea

Green drinks for St. Patrick’s Day don’t have to include alcohol. Green matcha tea or lattes deliver a bright green color as well as healthy antioxidants.

6) A green smoothie

Beloved by celebrities and athletes, green smoothies combine fruits, vegetables and other healthy ingredients. This is a great way to get your St. Patrick’s Day started if you’re hunting around for a breakfast idea. Making a green smoothie is easy. In a blender, combine a green vegetable such as kale or spinach. Add a natural sweetener such as an apple, banana or honey as well as something tart, such as ginger or lemon juice. Make sure to add more of the fruit and vegetables and less of the tart to make a delicious drink.

7) Tequila green cocktail

Mince a lime into fine pieces and crush it inside a glass with one tablespoon of simple or sugar syrup. Add one part tequila and two parts light rum. Add a few drops of food coloring if you want a deeper green rather than the pale green color of this drink.

8) Irish cocktail

No St. Patrick’s Day drink would be complete without Irish whiskey, which is included in this drink. Shake 6 dashes of green crème de menthe with 2 parts Irish whiskey and three dashes Green Chartreuse before pouring into a chilled glass.
